Healthy living became a passion of mine over 10 years ago. No matter what diet I tried, I just couldn’t seem to get it right. I spent so many years hating my body and wishing I was different.
Because yes, now that I’m coaching, I can’t imagine myself doing anything else. I seriously have the best job in the world.
Yep. My personal journey to “healthy” definitely led me right here, so yes… I’m going to start with the cliche phrase we’ve all heard before: I’ve been there.
In the 7th grade, I was at my top weight. In high school, I battled with eating disorders. In my early twenties, I was obsessed with the scale and probably could consider myself a damaging enthusiast of dieting. But, I like to think the reason I experienced so many different struggles with my health journey was because it was inevitably preparing me for the one day I’d become a coach.
Enough was enough. I suddenly found myself extremely fascinated in every single thing I put in (or on) my body. I started diving into ingredients and learning the nourishing effects of each of them, as well as the damaging effects. Mind you—this is before searching nutrition labels and researching ingredients at the source was trendy and cool. (Which I seriously LOVE that it is now!)
I started to become as obsessed with the inside as much as the outside. I wanted to heal the parts of me that had been holding me back from having everything I wanted.
Obtaining health slowly started to make sense for me and so I continued educating myself more and more, absorbing as much information as I possibly could to discover my way to healthy.
I DON’T KNOW HOW MANY TIMES I’VE GIVEN UP ON MYSELF. I WAS DETERMINED TO DISCOVER A PERMANENT SOLUTION.
I want to make it clear that I don’t push plant-based eating on anyone. It’s just what works for me and I will help you confidently find what works for your unique body, too.
I like to say that prior to finding what works for me, I was running on diesel or 87. Now that I know what my body desires, we’re running on jet fuel, baby—and let me tell you, it feels so, so good.
I discovered plant-based eating in 2010 and that is when it all started to click for me. I finally found a way to eat that didn’t leave me feeling deprived or restricted like I always felt while dieting. In the last 10 years, I can genuinely say that I've healed my relationship with food and with my body.
